Summer becomes Winter 2017-18

Winter…Summer adventures are nearly over

Where do I start; with the finish or the start of the end of the beginning of our new adventures?

Wow that sounds confusing but we have had a big upheaval to our normality, well at least since we last had a big change moving to the PDS in 2001;

  • Moved after 17 seasons of skiing and teaching in Soldeu, Andorra
  • Bought and built/renovated farm house just outside Les Gets
  • Started ALC 2003
  • Sold house in 2017 and moved to Le Biot
  • Searched and bought a cottage back in UK in Aug 2017
  • Busy renovating said cottage until this moment in time

Trading this winter house and these views for..

ALC’s new UK HQ needed a lot of work, new floors, up and down, painting and decorating and building shelves, new fireplace among lots of outside garden weed and ivy removal.

We are pretty happy and cosy with the results but still more to do next summer along with fitting in my other job of JtS (JoeTheStrummer) playing music in various bars.

The date today is 3rd of December and Avoriaz has opened early and I’m not there for the 1st time on opening day of any resort I’ve lived and worked in in 30 years or so.

So, totally jealous of all the friends and colleagues that are whooping it up in the snow but have a week left here, 1 gig to play and then I can swap this..

..for this and change from using guitar and drills, hammers and paintbrushes for using these…

Babs is busy setting up her dog grooming business but is also ready to take bookings and with the snow looking like it could be building for a good start this season we’re hoping for a bumper snow filled Xmas, new year and season. Filled with lots of new and valued repeat clients which I have to thank for their continued support and custom.

Me I’m driving out to France on the 12th Dec and hoping to be on snow on the 13th! neck deep in soft white fluffy stuff, trying out my new Dynastar skis and Lange boots. If you have any questions or enquiries get in touch, if you fancy some light reading or info on getting ready for your trip checkout #ALCblogbook or our regular blogs or tips and technique for alpine skiing or Telemarking.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and all the best for the future, hope to see you in Avoriaz, Les Gets or Morzine
