It’s ages since I last wrote a blog. Why?
Well, it’s been fantastic here over the last month or so, truly fantastic spring skiing. Yes it starts to get sloppy in the afternoons but after so many years in the hills we’ve learned the way forward is to embrace that. So a power ski in the morning (optimum time probably 10am- 1pm) and a well earned afternoon’s relaxation over a bevvy, or a bbq (or both!!).
Still I hesitate to write about these things for fear the purists will take fright – ‘ time to go higher’ they cry…….
Not a bit of it. The last week in March brought one of our best snowfalls and I had my favourite powder morning this season on Cheri Nord. And as the conditions inevitably reverted to spring, plenty of nice, soft bumps to be had if you new where to look.
It really is winding down now though, I can’t lie. In Les Gets, Mt Cheri will close this Sunday (although it is still reasonable skiing down all the way down to the village on Chavannes side. In Morzine you can only ski back down to the village via on run (red I think). Links are still open though 🙂
