Snow conditions report 2nd Feb

Snow conditions in Les Gets/Morzine/Avoriaz

We always try to keep you in the loop and be honest with what the snow is like and do this with regular updates either in writing or pictures (still and moving) and no-one in their right mind would describe this season as a classic powdery one. However, there is still some good snow to ski although more of the mountain is turning brown and Mt Chery has had to close due to the lack of snow on the south facing pistes.

But the mountain company SAGets (who deserve a medal) have done and keep doing wonders with what we have up the hill, like this;

Snow conditions

Building great piles of natural and man-made snow in the shady areas and then moving it by truck onto the slopes and piste-ing it onto thin areas, here down from the Chavannes in Les Gets. This of course doesn’t give us endless off-piste and pow every where but at least it makes what we have either better or last longer.

This resource is obviously finite and will run out, but – looking at the forecast there is snow on the horizon;

Click on the forecast for more info, here’s hoping for a real cold snap and lots more than forecast and more to come also. If you are coming before Half term holidays then you may luck out and be able to take advantage of quiet slopes and some tips in the powder snow!! Fingers crossed! I’m hoping for this;

Snorkels at the ready, face shots please, dolphin turns in waist deep powder….come on we deserve it…we’ve waited long enough. OK we’ll settle for knee deep, watch this space and PLEASE all do the snow dance tonight and get those lessons booked before the half term madness begins mid Feb, come on 2017 start delivering the goods.
