Season over.. My Kinda Triathlon
Season over but with snow still falling into May..
Winter season finally over, so what to do when there’s so much snow still lying about? Get the skins out and earn some Telemark turns, especially if “nagged” by Lyla the wonder dog. (triathlon)
She loves it when the skins come out and as long as the snow isn’t too sticky or deep she’ll lead us anywhere.
We live at PdG, a short drive from Les Gets and although the snow that fell recently has disappeared from here and the village, it has hung around up by the Folliets du Golf or “horrible Hill. The reward once reaching the top apart from the views across the valley is that we get to Telemark back down, after Lyla gives permission of course!
Lyla chases us – like a demented loon ears flapping and barking the whole way back to the car and down “horrible hill” which is in great condition – I’ve seen it worse during the season!
The golf course is poking its head out in places and it won’t be long until the mountain transforms into walking, golfing and mountain bike heaven.
Home for a cuppa and it’s too nice to sit about inside, so out with the bike and a quick loop down to Taninges and back up “comedy short-cut”. Pretty cold on the way down, way colder than I thought it would be but lovely temp for the way up. Once again lovely views all around – toward the Mont Blanc range in one direction, Aravis and toward Geneva the other.
“comedy short-cut” is a well known road bikers nemesis as it normally comes at the end of some rides in the area and is always one of ours if we go down the valley!
Not in the league of Col de Joux Plane or Col de Ramaz but short and steep and “the way home”.
It goes through a couple of little hamlets of; Rond and Fry and saves being on the main road with lots of traffic.
So, that’s 2 sports;
Ski, walk/skin up, Telemark down.
Cycle, down and back up to and from home.
What’s the third?
Well if you know me…..
I know this not a sport but its My Kinda Triathlon and I did have to walk to the local.
Same or similar tomorrow!
