It’s sweltering here, and although we don’t want to seem ungrateful for some lovely summer weather, on sultry nights we can’t help thinking a bit wistfully about crisp, clear January in the snow.
We find it’s great to go through our archive pictures when we are feeling like this and re-live some of the experiences offered by our winter home in the Alps.
So for anyone else out there counting the days until their next ski trip, here is some fantasy fodder to keep you going…
Babs Snow- shoeing with the dog in Praz de Lys, a small local ski resort adjacent to Les Gets. Besides some nice alpine skiing, this little gem set in a nature reserve offers excellent cross country skiing and some great terrain for snow-shoeing and back country trips.
Joe enjoys some fresh powder in Les Gets . The ski instructors are often too busy with clients to make the most of a fresh snowfall for themselves, so this was a much cherished opportunity to get out and get amongst it!
Joe skis with our pals and neighbours, Peter & Tara in Les Gets. Peter & Tara are enthusiastic recreational skiers, usually champing at the bit when they make a visit to their chalet in Pont Des Gets. They are going to have to rein it in for a little while though, thanks to the recent arrival of their new young son Thomas. I am sure they’ll have Thomas up and running as soon as they can though and are looking forward to loads of family adventure holidays in the French Alps!!
Over the next few months we’ll be delving into our archives for some more snow scenes to keep us all going until December – any contributions welcome!!
